A beautiful holiday home for rent in the Dordogne village of Montignac. Walnut House is a magnificent family home with stunning and far-reaching views. It was designed to capture maximum sunshine all day. In the morning the sun is at the front, whilst at the end of the day the sun sets over the covered dining terrace and pool.
Walnut House was designed by a local architect to the owners’ specifications. It was built by local artisans using traditional local materials. Beautiful hand carved oak beams are a feature of this open-plan living. On the ground floor is handmade solid chestnut parquet, whilst upstairs there is a solid poplar parquet floor, giving a feeling of luxury and warmth. Modern central heating makes this a comfortable holiday home all-year round. There are six bedrooms, sleeping up to 10 guests comfortably.
This is an excellent place to get away from it all and yet has easy access to Brive, Bordeaux, Bergerac, Limoges Airports; Brive and Limoges Rail Stations. Montignac is situated on the Vezere River and hosts a variety of events through the season. The Bastille Day fireworks, the International Music Festival, a regular Saturday and Wednesday market and the very popular Monday barbecue by the river, are enjoyed by local residents and visitors alike. The nearby Lascaux pre-historic caves have been made a World Heritage Site and are well worth a visit.
